9 months old...a little late!

I haven't really shared any recent pictures of Pumpkin, so here goes!

Hello Fall!!!

Fall is finally here and I am so very excited. This is my favorite time of the year! It hasn't cooled down here in Texas just yet. But when it does you better believe I'll be breaking out the warmer clothes and hot cocoa.

Another part of fall that I thouroughly enjoy is candy corns...I know, they aren't THAT great, but I really enjoy them. Yes, I know I can have them 365 days of the year. The fun of Fall is enjoying certain things that really remind me of this time of year.

A friend of mine shared this "recipe" with me recently. I was amazed, and it's not that big of a deal. You combine candy corn and honey roasted peanuts...DELICIOUS! Please go out and do this and when you taste it come back here and tell me what it tastes like!

There is another variation that I came up with today, as well. Indian corn (the chocolate version of candy corn) and honey roasted peanuts...YUM!

Two in one day?!

This morning Pumpkin spoke her first word, "Mama"! I was blown away. Then about 5 mins later she blurted out, "dada"! Two of her first words in one whole day. It has absolutely made my year. I feel honored that her first word was Mama. So honored that I could cry thinking about it!

They grow up fast, eh?

When you're pregnant, people tell you to cherish the time you have. I thought, "Sure, but I cannot wait to hold my baby!". And before I knew it I was a mom. Then they tell you to cherish every moment because they grow up fast. I thought, "Yeah, they probably do, but time won't past that fast".

A friend of mine had her baby girl 5 weeks early; 4 lbs! Today is her shower so I went through Pumpkin's old clothes to give to her. We were very unprepared for a preemie ourselves, so I know how stressful it can be to have to buy more clothes (which they will more than likely grow out of in a few weeks) and diapers. As I was going through everything I just could not believe that Pumpkin once fit into those tiny doll clothes. She is still small for her age, still wearing 3-6 clothing (although soon she'll have to upgrade!). But it made me realize how fast 8 months has FLOWN by. We are four months away from her 1 year birthday!

If I could give any new Mom one piece of advice it would be to cherish every moment, good or bad, because they fly by. Oh, and to sleep when you can!

Hello, Teething!

Saturday, August 8th, I noticed Pumpkin was sticking her tongue out oddly; I didn't think anything of it. After church on Sunday Pumpkin and I sat down to eat avocado and grilled chicken. I was checking to see if she had any left over food in her mouth and something scraped my finger. I pryed open my her mouth and there it was. A tiny little nub of a tooth coming up through her gum. I am one proud Mama!

Of course I ran to her baby book and recorded it.

I have yet to get a picture, but you better believe I'll make a blog post just for it!

Sick, sick, sick

Pumpkin got sick a little over two weeks ago. I took her to the doctor and he tested for strep; negative. Because it's viral we just have to wait it out. Well less than a week later my throat starts hurting...and it gets worse. Then the nasal congestion sets in. Pumpkin and I both get a fever off and on all weekend. So off to the doctor we went on Monday.

Turns out Pumpkin's cold is still viral but she now has a throat infection. I was really surprised to hear this seeing as she had no problems gulping down her bottles and was always smiling (just slightly fussier than normal). Once again it has to run it's course.

The verdict was the same at my appointment. No strep, just lots of mucous and a sore throat. I got a decongestant and some Motrin for the pain. He tells me to eat, drink, and rest...EASY FOR YOU TO SAY!

It's a day after the appointment and I already feel 50% better. My throat is slightly tender and the mucous is thinning out. Hopefully only a few more days of this and I'll be back to myself again.

Well, it's official

Life has gotten in the way of blogging!

I haven't posted in nearly a month (I'm shy of two days)! I didn't realize how busy life could get w/ a 6 month old (She's now 7 months by the way!). I hope all of you had a wonderful Independence day this year. We decided to go to Scot's hometown, Mexia, Tx. The WHOLE family was there. Marlee met her newest cousins, Kallie and Charlotte. And she got to spend some time with her half-brother Calob. It was a wonderful holiday.

We also set a date for wedding! May 7, 2011. I am so very excited. AND I already bought my dress. It is nothing that I imagined I would wear, but it is absolutely perfect for our wedding. I cannot wait for the date!
